August Favourites

Hi Everyone!

Here we are again for another monthly favourites and I feel like I say this every time, but hasn’t this month flown by?! Here are a few things that I have been loving this month, there’s not as many as usual as I feel like I’ve been using a lot of the same make up as in my July favourites and also I have lots of new things to review and try!

Makeup Favourites

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Josie Maran – Illuminizer – £19.00

My friend brought this back for me from America after I had seen reviews on youtube raving about it; I have been mixing this in with my foundation and I love the effect that it has. It makes my skin naturally dewy and bright without looking sparkly as the shimmer is very subtle.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Benefit – Gimme Brow – £18.50

I actually got this free sample in a magazine this month, I had never used it before and it’s actually a complete game changer! I have very full brows anyway, so if I’m going for a natural look all I have to do it comb this through them and I’m done!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

NYX – Soft Matte Lip Cream in Abu Dhabi – £5.50

I find some nude lip colours really hard to wear but I love this shade as it compliments my skin tone. It glides on really easily and isn’t too drying which is perfect.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Tarte – Tartelette in Bloom Palette – £33.00

I hadn’t really tried many Tarte eye products before I purchased this palette but I am completely sold! All of the shades are really buttery and easy to blend and there is a brilliant mixture of both matte and shimmery shades which mean it can be used just as easily for daytime and evening looks.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

L’Oreal Sexybalm – £4.99

These have to be my favourite favourite of the month! The sexybalms come in both sheer and bold, both of which are incredible. Even the sheer balms are very pigmented and moisturising as are the bold shades. You have to take your time applying the brighter shades because they can slide around on the lips a lot but after 5 – 10 minutes of them setting in, the colour will literally not budge for hours on end which is amazing for a balm.

Random Favourites

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

River Island – Cat Cap – £16.00

My fashion favourite for this month is this cap, I haven’t taken it off since I got it! I can put it on when I’m wearing the most boring, comfortable, everyday outfit and it gives instant sass!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Marks and Spencer – Honey BBQ Wholegrain Snacks – £2.00

These snacks come in 5 small bags and they taste sooo good! I can kind of convince myself that they are healthy as they’re ‘guilt free snacking’ which is great in my books. I’d definitely recommend you trying them if you haven’t already!

TV Show – How to Get Away with Murder

This is an american tv show on Netflix which is about a group of students training to be lawyers and the trials they have to go through to defend murderers in the court room, whilst their own lives get turned upside down. It has so many twists and turns and it kept me on the edge of my seat right up until the last second.

So these are my monthly favourites, what have yours been for August?

Much Love,

Lady in Red

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone!

I have been lusting after some leopard print boots for such a long time and as you all probably know by now as I mention it so often, I have super fat feet which makes finding shoes and boots near impossible!! I ordered these on the off chance that they’d fit with not very high hopes, but to my amazement I had a cinderella moment and they went on perfectly!

I couldn’t wait to style them and I loved the contrast of the bright red in this dress with the leopard print and to complete the outfit I added this black floppy hat with a necktie to give the whole look a boho feel.

My Top High Street / Drugstore Makeup Picks

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone!

I  get asked quite a bit about what make up I’m wearing in instagram posts etc. (follow me here if you’re not already!!) and I do tend to wear a lot of high end makeup but some of my staple everyday products are all high street which are obviously much cheaper and easier to get a hold of, so I thought I’d give you a run down of all my favourite high street and drugstore picks!

Primer- Next – Face Illuminator

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I love to have an illuminator under my foundation as I suffer with dry skin and this one gives a gorgeous ‘glow from within’ effect.

Foundation – L’Oreal Infallible Sculpt Foundation – Light – £8.99

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Although there are only two shades of this foundation, this colour is actually a perfect match for me which is lucky! I really like the consistency of this, it’s got a good coverage without being too heavy and it actually lasts for a long time on my nose whereas other foundations come off so easily!

Concealer – Bourjois Radiance Reveal – 01 Ivory – £7.99

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This shade is brilliant for brightening underneath my eyes, it’s very easy to blend and it isn’t matte which I prefer.

Powder – Revlon Photoready Powder – 010 Fair/Light – £11.29

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I don’t use a lot of powder during the summer months because I embrace the ‘glow’ but when I do I always use this one; it’s really light and doesn’t feel like it’s clogging up my face but gives a flawless effect.

Contour – Makeup Revolution Iconic Lights & Contour Palette -£8.00

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

If there is one drug store product I’d recommend it would be this contour palette from Makeup Revolution, as you can probably tell due to the state of it..!! I blend all 4 of the contour shades together and use sparingly because they’re very pigmented! It’s also a great palette for travel because it has under eye powders and two high light powders which are so pretty too.

Blusher – H&M – Sunrise Pink – £6.99

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

H&M have some amazing make up but one of the stand out products is their blusher, it blends well and they have a huge amount of shades to suit every skin tone.

Highlighter – Sleek – Solstice – £9.99

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Highlighter has to be one of my favourite make up products to buy and use! I usually use high end high lighters much more than high street but after re-discovering this, I have to say that it’s incredible! I use the powder shades much more often than the one creamy shade and I love them.

Eyebrows – Maybelline Masterbrow Pro Palette – Deep Brown – £6.99

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I have this eye brow palette in my make up bag constantly and it’s brilliant for the price. I don’t use the brush that comes with it as it’s too tiny!

Eyeshadow – Makeup Revolution – Fortune Favours the Brave – £9.99

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I have reviewed this eyeshadow palette on my blog before and the range of shades, pigmentation and blend ability of the eye shadows makes this an easy recommendation!

Eyeliner – Soap and Glory Smoulder Kohl – Super Black – £5.00

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I get very watery eyes and this water proof eye liner stays on no matter what!

Mascara – Maybelline Lash Sensational -£7.99

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is my go to drug store mascara, it is really black and makes my lashes look beautifully fanned out and dramatic.

Lip Liner – New Look Pure Colour – £1.99

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I just cannot get over how cheap this lip liner is! It glides on so easily and stays put for a long time, it’s incredible for the price.

Lipstick – Topshop -£8.00

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I have so many lipsticks from Topshop and I love them all too much I couldn’t pick a favourite! They range from matte to satin and even the matte lipsticks are creamy and comfortable to wear.

Setting Spray – Avon – £6.00

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I love this setting spray so much; not only does it keep my make up in place but it also refreshes my skin and keeps my make up looking just as good as it did when I first put it on!

Which drugstore or high street products would you recommend to me? Let me know if this post inspires you to try any of these!

Nineties Throwback

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone,

You may notice a theme emerging on my blog with my love for khaki dresses! But I wanted to show you a different way to wear one compared to my last post here.

I love the 90s trend at the moment and layering t-shirts under dresses for a unique look. This dress is perfect for me as it’s huge so it’s comfortable when sitting but I decided to cinch in the waist to give me some shape. I also love adding a print to make a statement on an outfit and camouflage is really popular at the moment which I have used in this neck tie.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I have mentioned my feet before and how much I hate them! And I always struggle to find shoes which fit me because my feet are so wide, it’s one of the things I get from my disability that I hate the most! But these trainers are so awesome and I’ve barely taken them off since the start of summer! The trainer part covers up most of my feet which is brilliant and the fact they are open at the back keeps them perfect for the hot weather and to slip on and off so easily!

BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Face Palette Review

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone!

I’ve had this palette a while now and I really wanted to share my thoughts because I know how hotly anticipated it was! It’s also a luxury brand, with a luxury price tag so I hope my views can help you decide whether it’s worth the cost.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The most infamous shade in the palette is Champagne Pop, shown above on the bottom row on the left; I had never actually tried this before even though it has such a huge fan base and it didn’t disappoint! It is the most gorgeous high light with a pinky gold undertone which would flatter so many people.

The other highlight in the palette is Prosecco Pop which is much more gold based and is perfect for an evening make up look as it really ‘pops’.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The three blush shades are insanely pigmented and I love the variation in colours within this one palette. The shade Rose Spritz could be used as both a highlight and a blush as it has a really luminous finish which is perfect for a daytime look and for quickness!

Amaretto is more brown toned and to be honest I’d probably use this for contour on my cheek bones rather than on the apples of my cheeks as I’m always much too pale! If you were tanned after a holiday however or have a darker skin tone, then this would be a lovely bronze blush shade.

The final colour in the palette is Pamplemousse which is a beautiful pink which can certainly pack a punch! You have to be so gentle when applying this, use a tiny bit on your brush and build the colour up slowly, else you could end up looking like a clown! (Unless that’s the look you’re going for of course!)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

From L – R – Prosecco Pop, Champagne Pop, Pamplemousse, Amaretto, Rose Spritz

All in all, I’d say this palette is worth the money if you love your highlighter as much as me! The formula is amazing, the highlighters and blushers are so buttery and pigmented which means they will last for quite a while.

The Khaki Dress

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone!

So i randomly went into Dunnes the other day which is a clothing shop next to most Morrisons stores in the UK?! I was actually so surprised with the amount of nice things in there and I managed to pick up this dress in the sale. I don’t wear straight, boxy style dresses very often because when I’m sitting down they can get uncomfortable, but this one is made out of lovely stretchy fabric with a drawstring at the waist to give you more shape. I love the zip detailing on the front and the length is perfect for me.

I wanted to add this belt instead of using the drawstring on the dress as I love the contrast of the tan leather against the green, also this belt was a complete bargain at 3 pounds! I think it looks much more expensive than that!

My look almost has a western/safari vibe as I’ve complimented it with this denim shirt which is a perfect cover up when the weather is hot one minute but chilly the next! I really love the tone of blue in this shirt, it’s really vibrant and works so well with the outfit.

The last thing I have to mention is this choker…. I saw it in the shop and had to have it! It won’t be to everyones taste as it’s quite a statement, but I love the fun element to it.

July Favourites

Hi Everyone!

I cannot believe it’s time for another monthly favourites and it’s August… where is the time going?! This month I went on my honeymoon, so most of my favourites I had with me on my holidays and I used them day in day out!

Make Up Favourites

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Ren – Keep Young and Beautiful Instant Firming Beauty Shot

Now I’ll be honest with you and admit that I don’t 100% know what this is or is supposed to do… but I do know that it makes my skin so incredibly soft and firmer feeling when I use it! It’s almost like applying a face mask to begin with as it tightens your face and then settles in to leave glowing, beautiful skin. I got this sample in my M&S Beauty Box and when I run out I’ll definitely be purchasing the full size.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The Body Shop – Vitamin E Moisture Lotion

I bought this before my honeymoon as it had SPF 15 in it, which I thought would be perfect to wear either on it’s own or underneath my foundation as my skin gets very dry in the sun. It’s so easy to rub in, it melted into my skin and is so moisturising. I’m still using this everyday now I’m home even on cloudier days, so that my skin is protected and moisturised.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Milani Baked Blush – Luminoso

I picked this up when I was in New York as I’d heard rave reviews from other bloggers and youtubers and it hasn’t let me down! It’s so pigmented that you only need the tiniest bit to give you a gorgeous natural glow. The colour is really flattering and it’s almost like it has brightening particles within it which makes you look radiant all day.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette

I want to do a full blog post review on this so I won’t say too much about it now, other than how much I love it! It is by far the most pigmented blushers and highlighters I’ve ever used and it’s just beautiful.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick – Back Talk

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Topshop Lipstick – Watermelon (Can’t find online but check in stores)

I was loving two lipsticks in July, both very different. Urban Decay’s backtalk is a purple /pink nude which works perfectly for everyday. It’s a comfort matte formula and it lives up to this name. I rarely wear matte lipsticks because they’re so drying, but this is really creamy and long wearing.

The other lipstick I’ve been wearing is Watermelon which is a gorgeous pink/red lipstick and is so flattering. I wore it a lot in the evenings but also in the daytime if I was feeling more daring and I always got so many compliments when I did! It’s a pink enough red to not be too in your face and it goes so well with a tan, so it’s perfect for summertime.

My husband bought me a Crosley record player for my birthday this year and I’ve been slowly collecting LPs for it. When we were in Boston we went into Urban Outfitters and I found this little gem and I’ve never been happier! I’m a complete 90s girl through and through and I was obsessed (probably like most of you!) with the Spice Girls, so I’ve been playing this tons and it’s great listening to it on an old school record.

I’ve got two TV favourites; one being Stranger Things on Netflix which i started right at the end of the month and finished it in approximately 3 days! It’s so scary but I literally couldn’t stop watching as I wanted to know what was going on. I just hope there will be a 2nd series as it all finished way too quickly!

The 2nd one is Pretty Little Liars; I’ve been investing in this show since the very beginning for what feels like 10728229 years…! But season 7 has just been incredible so far and it’s well worth a watch even though it may drive you slightly mad with all the twists and turns!

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about all of my monthly favourites and I’ll see you in my next post!
