Autumn Drugstore Makeup Haul

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone,

I popped into town the other day and spotted that Superdrug had 3 for 2 on all of their makeup… Dangerous! So I got a little spendy and I thought I’d show you what I got from there and Boots!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

L’Oreal L’OR Highlighter – £4.99

I’d heard Alix from I Covet Thee on youtube rave about this and I really wanted to try it for myself. I expected it to be much more expensive but I was pleasantly surprised. I haven’t used it on my face yet, but from swatching it, it has an almost velvet texture.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Barry M Matte Lipstick – 179 – £4.99

This is one of the new matte lipsticks from Barry M and I just fell in love with the colour!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

MUA Luxe Eyeshadow Palette – Enchanted – £6.00

I can’t get over how pretty this palette is and I’m so excited to try it. It really reminds me of the Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette but around £50 cheaper! I’m not sure on the quality of the eyeshadows but I’ll keep you updated once I’ve tested it.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Garnier Moisture Bomb Face Mask – 99p

I actually tried this mask the night that I got it and after trying other sheet masks, it is one of my favourites. The product didn’t drip off and go everywhere like others do and it clung to my face so it felt like it was really working. My skin didn’t feel very soft afterwards but it looked very moisturised and brighter. For the price (it’s usual price is £1.49) it’s worth a try if you have dry skin like me.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush – Gorgeous Berries – £8.99

I haven’t had a berry blush shade before and this just looked so pretty! I’m all about the autumn make up at the moment and this fits in perfectly.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

MUA Luxe Glow Beam Liquid Highlight Cushion – £5.00

This is another new release from MUA and it’s a cushion highlight which I’ve never tried before. I have swatched it and it’s quite subtle, but I think it will work well layered under a powder highlight to ensure that it doesn’t budge all day!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

NYX Matte Lipsticks – Eurotrash and Tea Rose – £6.50 each

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Makeup Obsession Build Your Own Palette – Palette – £6.00 and each pan – £3.00 each

  • Top Row from Right to Left – Contour Powder C102 Light, Contour Powder C101 Fair, Highlight H103 Bronze
  • Bottom Row from Right to Left – Banana Powder C111, Blush B112 Bloom, Highlight H104 Moon

So Boots now have something called a Makeup Emporium in some of their stores and they have one in Northampton. You can test lots of different makeup they have selected and you can build your own face or eyeshadow palettes. I really wanted to build a face palette so I can take it with me when I travel. They have everything you need from contour powders, blush and the most incredibly pigmented highlighters!

Have you been buying any of the new Autumn make up releases?

Homemade Halloween Treats Part 2

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone!

So here’s part 2 of my halloween treat series, I hope you enjoy these ideas as much as you did the last two!

Rice Krispie Pumpkins

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Ok so I have to admit, these are probably the most fiddly out of all of the treats I’m showing you! But if you’ve got a bit of patience and persistence, they will look and taste great!

  • Cheekily I used a rice krispie recipe off of the internet because it’s such a simple recipe! It basically involves rice krispies, butter and marshmallows
  • Add orange food colouring to make them as orange as you want them to be
  • Separate the mixture into several sandwich bags, you can make smaller and larger pumpkins, so add as much mixture into each bag for the size that you want
  • Mould the mixture in the bag into a round shape
  • Add a fudge sweet into the top for a stalk (you could also use black liquorice)
  • Tie up each food bag tightly and pop them in the fridge for a couple of hours so they set into a ball shape

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Bat Bites

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

How cute are these! Are they too cute to eat though… Of course not 😉

  • Separate each half of 4 oreos and slice them into halves again. I did this by using a table knife in a slicing motion slowly so that they don’t crack! You should then end up with 16 ‘wings’
  • Melt two bars of milk chocolate in the microwave (roughly 30 seconds but do it 10 seconds at a time and stir until melted)
  • Fill small cupcake cases with the melted chocolate, this mixture made 8
  • Before the chocolate has set, push two wings into each cupcake case at the top and two small white marshmallows at the bottom
  • Add a dot of black piping icing onto the marshmallows for the eyes
  • Put them in the fridge for a couple of hours
  • Once the chocolate has set, remove the cupcake cases carefully so you don’t break the wings

Homemade Halloween Treats Part 1

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone!

So halloween is round the corner and I thought I’d show you a few fun snacks I have created which you can make for a party or just for a treat! I’ve separated them into two posts, so there will be two ideas today and two more coming your way on Wednesday!

As you know, I’m disabled so I can guarantee that none of these ideas are majorly difficult and they’re easy to do, even with kids but they still look amazing!

Blood Splatter Chocolates

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I’ve started off with some really simple but effective ‘blood splatter’ chocolates. All you have to do is;

  • Melt however much white chocolate you want, I used one small bar and it made 7
  • Use small cupcake cases and pour a small amount into each one
  • Sprinkle red food colouring all over them in a random way to look like blood
  • Pop in the fridge for a couple of hours until they are set and then peel away the cases
  • So simple!!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Eye Balls

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Another really quick and simple idea and these are soooo yummy!

  • You will need white large marshmallows and smarties or an equivalent
  • Draw ‘veins’ on to the marshmallows, make the lines quite wiggly and not straight, using a cocktail stick and red food colouring
  • I melted a small amount of white chocolate to glue the marshmallows and smarties together
  • Add a spot of black piping icing in the middle of the smarties to create the complete eye ball effect

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Like I said, I’m not one for difficult bakes with lots of ingredients! I think these are quick and easy ideas that I hope will inspire you to make some of your own! Keep your eye out for two more ideas coming on Wednesday.

AW16 Trend Series – Sports Luxe

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone,

So for the final part of my trend series, I wanted to look at Sports Luxe which was a huge AW16 trend at Louis Vuitton, Vetements and Anya Hindmarch.

There are so many ways to wear this look as you can see above and I decided to create a more relaxed outfit, (I don’t think I could’ve pulled off the oversized puffer jacket..!!) combining the wet look leggings and metallic accessories to add the luxe element.

AW16 Trend Series – Grunge Spirit

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone!

This is the second part of my AW16 trend series and this time I’m talking you through ‘Grunge Spirit’. I had so much fun styling this look; I think it’s partly due to me reverting back to my emo days 😉

This trend incorporates everything 90’s, chokers, tartan, leopard print, brooches and layering. I wanted to give a girly edge to my look but you could also style it with ripped jeans, a rock band tee and leather jacket. I have linked some other alternatives below. My inspiration off the catwalk for this trend was from Burberry, Alexander Wang, Victoria Beckham and Prada.

AW16 Trend Series – Granny’s Attic

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone!

I think it’s safe to say that it’s 100% autumn now! The leaves are turning orange and I can see my breath in the mornings so I wanted to take a look at 3 of the fashion trends that are going to be pretty big this Autumn/Winter. Obviously this is a trend series so it’ll be based on the looks that were on the designer catwalks, but I always believe in styling yourself how you want to and this is just a rough guide of how I would wear some of the pieces from each trend. Of course you can always just pick one or two items and mix it with your own style to create a fresh new season look.

The trend I’m going to look at today is ‘Granny’s Attic’, it’s basically a mix of textures and colours to create a vintage twist on a modern outfit. Lots of the textures include ruffles, velvet, embroidery and sequins and this trend was spotted on the catwalks of Gucci, Miu Miu and Christopher Kane.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I loved styling this look as I do like to wear some unusual and eclectic pieces. Like I said earlier rather than wearing a lot of the pieces together like I have to give you a feel of the trend, you could take the boots, bag or the top etc and add it alongside some of the items you already have in your wardrobe and it’ll give it an AW16 fashion boost!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Jacket – New Look
Top – Zara
Jeggings – Matalan
Boots – New Look
Sunglasses – Asos
Ruffle Choker – Asos
Pearls – Vintage
Bag – New Look (out of stock online but check in store)

If that wasn’t enough… I’ve found lots of other items that would work for this trend too!

Primark Skincare – Testing and Review

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone!

Following on from my Poundland Make Up Look review, I thought I’d carry on this budget beauty series with these Primark skincare products. I’ve been trying them for a couple of weeks now, one of them actually featured in my September favourites here, so it might give you a good idea of what I think of them!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The first product I tried was the Love to Glow Moisturiser, I have been using it (mostly) each morning and night and my skin feels so much better for it. This is the worst time of year for our skin because of the cold, windy weather and I really feel like this is an essential you need! It almost has a iridescent shine within it which helps with the ‘glow’ but doesn’t make you look shiny at all.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The other product I’ve been testing is the ‘Instant Radiance Serum’. I wasn’t exactly hoping for much considering it’s low price and Primark obviously don’t specialise in skincare products, but again this has really surprised me. In a way you could use this on it’s own without the moisturiser as a base as this is very moisturing in itself. But I like to use them together as this is still a brilliant primer to use before foundation.

It’s quite a thick consistency but it melts into the skin really quickly. In the same way as the moisturiser, it has a iridescent shine to it but much more obvious. This isn’t a problem for me because as my skin gets quite dry, I like products that give that ‘glowing from within’ look, but if you have oily skin this might be too much.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Overall at only £3.00 each, I’d definitely recommend you trying these out and I can’t wait to try some more Primark skincare products.

Are there any other budget beauty brands you’d like me to test and review? I can do make up looks with budget make up brands or more skincare reviews like this one. Please let me know in the comments!

Much Love,
