AW16 Trend Series – Sports Luxe

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone,

So for the final part of my trend series, I wanted to look at Sports Luxe which was a huge AW16 trend at Louis Vuitton, Vetements and Anya Hindmarch.

There are so many ways to wear this look as you can see above and I decided to create a more relaxed outfit, (I don’t think I could’ve pulled off the oversized puffer jacket..!!) combining the wet look leggings and metallic accessories to add the luxe element.

Urban Decay Moondust Palette Review and Make Up Look

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone!

My friend recently went to America and I asked her to pick me up this eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay in Sephora as it hadn’t been released in the UK yet.. it since has, so I wanted to tell you all about it and create a make up look using it, so I can give you an idea of what it looks like on my face!

Firstly, the packaging is beautiful it’s so super sparkly from the outside all the way through to the eyeshadows themselves. The packaging is quite hefty though, so it’s not massively great for travel as it would take up a lot of room in my make up bag!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As you can see there is a whole range of colours and shades, all of which are glittery and not for the faint hearted! The moondust name itself gives you an idea of why the colours have been selected as the majority are cool toned and space-like shades.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

L – R: Specter, Element, Magnetic, Lightyear, Granite, Lithium, Vega, Galaxy

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

When I swatched the eye shadows I was so excited by the pigmentation of them and the colours but I could already feel that some of them were much more buttery than others. They applied really well with my fingers but as soon as I started to use them with a brush on my face, the pigmentation was nowhere near as strong and there was a lot of glittery fall out!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I used the shades Specter as a base, Magnetic as all over colour and Granite in the crease. I found that although they weren’t super pigmented, it was easy to build up the colour and you could create a look you wanted quite easily. I do want to try them wet too because it will help much more if you want very pigmented eye shadow and I think that Urban Decay have created these shadows this way, so you have both options.

Because of the fall out, I did the rest of my foundation etc afterwards and this was fine. There is always going to be some fall out when using glittery eye shadows and it wasn’t extreme.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Overall I love this palette purely because it’s so sassy! It’s perfect for evening looks but you can also use the more warm tone shades like Specter and Element for a daytime look. I would say that the eye shadow looks so much better in person because you can see the full effect more than in still photos, so please bare that in mind and of course I’m no make up artist, so these are purely my opinions on how I’ve found the product to be as an amateur! 😉

You can buy the palette here in the UK!

Have you tried this palette? What are your thoughts?

Much Love,

BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Face Palette Review

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi Everyone!

I’ve had this palette a while now and I really wanted to share my thoughts because I know how hotly anticipated it was! It’s also a luxury brand, with a luxury price tag so I hope my views can help you decide whether it’s worth the cost.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The most infamous shade in the palette is Champagne Pop, shown above on the bottom row on the left; I had never actually tried this before even though it has such a huge fan base and it didn’t disappoint! It is the most gorgeous high light with a pinky gold undertone which would flatter so many people.

The other highlight in the palette is Prosecco Pop which is much more gold based and is perfect for an evening make up look as it really ‘pops’.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The three blush shades are insanely pigmented and I love the variation in colours within this one palette. The shade Rose Spritz could be used as both a highlight and a blush as it has a really luminous finish which is perfect for a daytime look and for quickness!

Amaretto is more brown toned and to be honest I’d probably use this for contour on my cheek bones rather than on the apples of my cheeks as I’m always much too pale! If you were tanned after a holiday however or have a darker skin tone, then this would be a lovely bronze blush shade.

The final colour in the palette is Pamplemousse which is a beautiful pink which can certainly pack a punch! You have to be so gentle when applying this, use a tiny bit on your brush and build the colour up slowly, else you could end up looking like a clown! (Unless that’s the look you’re going for of course!)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

From L – R – Prosecco Pop, Champagne Pop, Pamplemousse, Amaretto, Rose Spritz

All in all, I’d say this palette is worth the money if you love your highlighter as much as me! The formula is amazing, the highlighters and blushers are so buttery and pigmented which means they will last for quite a while.

Have you tried this palette, what did you think?

July Favourites

Hi Everyone!

I cannot believe it’s time for another monthly favourites and it’s August… where is the time going?! This month I went on my honeymoon, so most of my favourites I had with me on my holidays and I used them day in day out!

Make Up Favourites

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Ren – Keep Young and Beautiful Instant Firming Beauty Shot

Now I’ll be honest with you and admit that I don’t 100% know what this is or is supposed to do… but I do know that it makes my skin so incredibly soft and firmer feeling when I use it! It’s almost like applying a face mask to begin with as it tightens your face and then settles in to leave glowing, beautiful skin. I got this sample in my M&S Beauty Box and when I run out I’ll definitely be purchasing the full size.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The Body Shop – Vitamin E Moisture Lotion

I bought this before my honeymoon as it had SPF 15 in it, which I thought would be perfect to wear either on it’s own or underneath my foundation as my skin gets very dry in the sun. It’s so easy to rub in, it melted into my skin and is so moisturising. I’m still using this everyday now I’m home even on cloudier days, so that my skin is protected and moisturised.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Milani Baked Blush – Luminoso

I picked this up when I was in New York as I’d heard rave reviews from other bloggers and youtubers and it hasn’t let me down! It’s so pigmented that you only need the tiniest bit to give you a gorgeous natural glow. The colour is really flattering and it’s almost like it has brightening particles within it which makes you look radiant all day.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette

I want to do a full blog post review on this so I won’t say too much about it now, other than how much I love it! It is by far the most pigmented blushers and highlighters I’ve ever used and it’s just beautiful.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick – Back Talk

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Topshop Lipstick – Watermelon (Can’t find online but check in stores)

I was loving two lipsticks in July, both very different. Urban Decay’s backtalk is a purple /pink nude which works perfectly for everyday. It’s a comfort matte formula and it lives up to this name. I rarely wear matte lipsticks because they’re so drying, but this is really creamy and long wearing.

The other lipstick I’ve been wearing is Watermelon which is a gorgeous pink/red lipstick and is so flattering. I wore it a lot in the evenings but also in the daytime if I was feeling more daring and I always got so many compliments when I did! It’s a pink enough red to not be too in your face and it goes so well with a tan, so it’s perfect for summertime.

My husband bought me a Crosley record player for my birthday this year and I’ve been slowly collecting LPs for it. When we were in Boston we went into Urban Outfitters and I found this little gem and I’ve never been happier! I’m a complete 90s girl through and through and I was obsessed (probably like most of you!) with the Spice Girls, so I’ve been playing this tons and it’s great listening to it on an old school record.

I’ve got two TV favourites; one being Stranger Things on Netflix which i started right at the end of the month and finished it in approximately 3 days! It’s so scary but I literally couldn’t stop watching as I wanted to know what was going on. I just hope there will be a 2nd series as it all finished way too quickly!

The 2nd one is Pretty Little Liars; I’ve been investing in this show since the very beginning for what feels like 10728229 years…! But season 7 has just been incredible so far and it’s well worth a watch even though it may drive you slightly mad with all the twists and turns!

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about all of my monthly favourites and I’ll see you in my next post!

Hi Everyone,

So as you know, I’m obsessed with make up! And when I was on my honeymoon and we got to explore parts of America, I knew I had to make the most of visiting Sephora in the USA! I had saved up money for a long time purely for this part of the trip, so you can see why I got so much!

I wanted to talk about each piece individually and my opinions on them but I just haven’t had time since we got back to test everything out! I’m sure some things I love will feature in my July favourites, but if you want to hear about anything in particular, then please comment below and i’ll let you know what I think!

June Favourites

Hi Everyone!

So I’m actually writing this post a day before I’m due to set sail for my honeymoon! Ironically I’ll be back today when it’s going live. I’m sorry for the lack of posts whilst I’ve been away but I just wanted to completely relax away from the internet! I can’t wait to show you and review all the amazing places we’ve been, I’ll have lots of content coming your way!

Make Up Favourites

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So here we are at my slightly late June Favourites, I hope you enjoy reading all about them.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Kiko – Scrub & Peel Wipes

So as you may have seen, Kim Kardashian featured these on her snapchat saying they were her favourites and I have to agree! I’ve been using them since February on and off but in the past month about once or twice a week and they are so nice to give your face an amazing exfoliation and to make your skin baby soft.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Benefit – Roller Lash Mascara

I have had this Mascara from Benefit for a while and for some reason when I first tried it I never got on with it but after re-discovering it after a make up clear out, I started using it again in June and I’ve fallen in love with it! I only wear it on my top lashes because I always wear waterproof mascara on my bottom lashes and I’ve found that this can smudge quite easily. But on my top lashes this curls and separates my lashes perfectly and it’s super dark.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Pur – Correcting Primer

I got this in my M&S Beauty Box and it’s been in my make up bag ever since! It’s a lovely formula, really easy to apply and although it’s only a primer it has a good coverage with a subtle sheen which makes my skin look super glowy and fresh. I sometimes wear this on it’s own if I don’t want to wear foundation.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Mac – Finally Free Lipstick

I bought this lipstick because not only do 100% of the profits benefit the transgender community in the UK (so by buying this lipstick you’re basically doing a good deed!) but also because I just adored the shade! It’s a nude but a dark rose pink nude which is so flattering for every skin tone.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Swell – Ultimate Protect and Renew Hair Serum

Because I have thin hair, it tends to get really frizzy and knotty easily so I wanted something to help stop this. I have been using this serum from Swell and it’s made the ends of my hair so much more smooth and glossy. I apply it after I have washed my hair, I use around a pea-sized amount in the palm of my hands and then just rub it into the lengths of my hair (not on the roots) and blow dry as normal. It’s something easy and quick to apply which really has made a difference.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Too Faced – Sweet Peach Eye Palette

Ok, so my final beauty favourite is a bit cheeky as it was limited edition and it’s no longer available in the UK.. but I just had to mention it as it’s the only eye palette I’ve been using this month! As per usual for all Too Faced palettes, the eye shadows are so buttery and easy to blend, with amazing pigmentation. I love the range of colours in this palette as I’m a big fan of peaches and browns, especially in summertime. I would definitely recommend trying a different Too Face eye palette such as the Chocolate Bon Bon palette as I’ve only ever heard good things about them!

Random Favourites

So I only have one random favourite this month and that has to be Orange is the New Black! It came back onto Netflix with it’s fourth series on 17th June and it has been amazing so far! Because of going away, I only got to episode 7 and I can’t wait to see the rest once I’m back!!

What were your favourites for June? Any recommendations of things I should try this month?

Much Love,
